Recruiting Developers (December 15, 2007)
Hi. I'm currently looking to recruit a few developers to aid in the development of the new version of cEdit.
It's being written in Delphi so Delphi experience is a plus however I will be needing beta testers as well which
shouldn't require any solid experience in Delphi. Currently I'm planning to utilize the SynEditStudio component
for the highlighting. It is an offshoot of SynEdit. I have a screencap of it in action here:
Screencap.gif. Please feel free to take a look. I've created a new forum specificly
for the future development of the new version of cEdit. If your interested in joining in on this project I'm
looking for Delphi programmers, beta testers, and someone interested in writing documentation. If you want to
join visit the forum here: http://cedit.sourceforge.net/phpBB2.
In the recruiting forum post what you'd like to do to aid in the development. Thank you and have a nice day.
Update need opinions (November 21, 2007)

I'm currently working on a total rewrite of cEditMX since it was rather buggy.
The new version has a very solid start so far. The hang up is I'm tyring to descide
which editing component to use with it. I have 2 options. Scintilla and SynEdit.
SynEdit's advantages are faster load time, no external DLL since it's a native VCL,
support for Spell Check.
Scintilla's big advantage is Code Folding Support.
SynEdit does have a version with some code folding support however it is somewhat buggy
and though I would include it, it would be strictly optional.
I need to know what you guys think so just use this poll to answer your opinions. Thanks
Stewart
Welcome to cEditMX Software
cEditMX is more of a hobby than a company per say. It's a little
site I put together to share source code and program's I've written
for fun. Some of it is quite useful.
Please Feel Free to Donate
Because all software and source on this site is free I don't
earn any consistent income from it. Naturally there are costs involved
with maintaining a webserver. If you happen to have any extra money
and are willing to help please feel free to donate
a small sum of money. You can donate as much or as little as you like.
News August 12 2007
Due to way to many problems with unreputable companies posting spam on the forums I have been forced to
institute both flood control and setting it so only registered users may utilize the feature. I do apologize
for the inconvenience this of course adds in that you now have to register but unfortunatly I see no other
way in cutting back on such problems. I recognize that this is not a total fix and obviously some moderation
is still going to be required but I hope that it will cut back on the problems I have been experiencing with
this. Thank you and once again I do apologize.

SCIVB has a new release. A lot of bug fixes in this version,
including some major enhancements to the control and a number of new features. SCIVB is an
open-source ActiveX control designed primarily for use in Visual Basic, although tested
in FoxPro as well, which allows VB developers to gain easy access to
Scintilla.

I'm currently working on a new release of cEditMX.
This will be a near total rewrite. A lot of time has been spent on cleaning up the UI and
drastically enhancing the speed and overall performance of the editor. A number of new features
and feature enhancements have also found their way into this rewrite. Release should be ready
in 2-3 weeks.
All applications and ActiveX controls are released with full
source code. You may modify them and redistribute as long as you
leave my name and credit to me in tact. I also ask that if it's
an ActiveX control that you change the PID so your modified
version doesn't interfere with anyone using my release of it.
For those interested in the cEdit source code editor, which is by
far the most commonly downloaded application, version 4 is written in
Visual Basic, the MX version is written in Delphi. MX is newer and far more
powerful. Version 4 uses the CodeMax
ActiveX control. The version it uses is from the period when CodeMax was free,
and open-source. Version MX uses the Scintilla
editing component which is still free and open-source.
